Empowering Vision: Free Eye & Health Camp at Azadpur
Azadpur, Delhi | March 1, 2026:
In a continued effort to combat avoidable blindness and promote community health, MojiRam Lions Eye Hospital, in collaboration with New G9 Janseva Foundation, successfully organised a Free Vision Check-up, Cataract Referral and Health Camp at the MCD Community Centre, Azadpur Colony, on Sunday.
The outreach initiative brought specialised eye care services directly to residents of Azadpur and nearby areas, where access to quality ophthalmic treatment often remains limited. The camp combined advanced eye examinations with basic health screenings, ensuring a comprehensive approach to community well-being.
The camp witnessed an encouraging response from the public, with 234 people benefiting from medical consultation and screening services. The hospital’s medical team carried out 180 refraction tests, dry eye evaluations, and retina screenings using portable fundus imaging with photo documentation. Specialized screening for diabetic retinopathy was also conducted to identify patients at risk of vision loss.
In addition to eye care services, the camp included general health check-ups, where 35 blood pressure and blood sugar tests were performed. To support ongoing treatment, 210 vials of medicated eye drops were distributed free of cost to patients.
A key outcome of the camp was the identification of 30 cataract patients, all of whom have been referred to MojiRam Lions Eye Hospital for completely free cataract surgery. Additionally, 9 cases of diabetic retinopathy were detected and recommended for timely follow-up care.
Aligned with the Lions’ global “Sight First” mission, the hospital continues to ensure that financial constraints never prevent patients from receiving quality eye care and the gift of clear vision.
The organisers expressed their commitment to expanding such outreach programmes, reaffirming their shared goal of making avoidable blindness a thing of the past in the community.
